Specific Coaching Example
• Coaching Objectives: A generally well liked and respected General Counsel struggled with several important relationships which impacted her influence, effectiveness and reputation. She and her department suffered from the typical law department perception of being negative (started with “No”), slow, inefficient, more focused on risk management than solutions and over-detailing on their comments on document review.
• Results: Through coaching, my client had some deep insights into her own behaviors and how her approach was perceived as uncollaborative and confrontational. She worked to change this perception by reframing interactions with clients to “how can we help get you the results you want”. She built her department’s brand to be more customer service oriented & focused on cultivating and nurturing relationships. Ultimately, she was able to be viewed as a strategic advisor and partner rather than as an adversary (we versus them).
